The English name - Larch
Sort of well-known coniferous trees from family pine (Pinaceae). Large trees, 30-35 m in height, with needles dumped for the winter. In a sort 10-12 (on other data, from above 20) the kinds extended in cold areas of Northern hemisphere (from the Himalayas to 71 ° with. sh.). In USSR L occupies enormous spaces, rising to the top border of wood in mountains and reaching on S extreme limits of distribution of wood vegetation. The greatest areas occupy larch Gmelina, or daurskaya (L. gmelini), and a larch Siberian (L. sibirica).
