The German name - Sapelli, Mahagoni, Sipo, English and Italian - Sapelli. Sipo the Tree very high and large, the trunk has the equal cylindrical form. Grows in equatorial Africa.
Zabolon' and a core sharply differ. Zabolon' wide, can have all shades from white to the grey. Mature wood - red-brown with beautiful golden shine.
Wood sapelli has the properties close to true mahagoni, and their structures are very similar. Therefore it is often applied instead of mahagoni and is called as the same name or, taking into account one of local names, - zipo-mahagoni. Well gives in to polishing, it is used for furniture manufacturing, in incrustations and in art parquet floors. The Spirally-layered arrangement of fibres gives to wood sapelli special decorative effect. Has propensity to korobleniyu at drying. Application of varnishes, glues and first coats on a water basis is not recommended.
